The Biology Department at UMB is a vibrant community of ecologists, evolutionary biologists, and molecular and cell biologists residing in a brand new state-of-the-art building with stunning ocean views. UMass Boston is part of the UMass System of Universities and is the most diverse university in the New England region. Boston is a metropolitan center in the northeastern US, with endless cultural entertainment and a major cluster of Universities and Technological Centers.
I am committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in STEM. I do not tolerate any form of discrimination or prejudice, everyone should feel safe and welcome in my lab. Every member of the lab should follow this code of conduct.
Graduate Students
Graduate students in my lab can apply for the PhD Program in Biology (Environmental Biology Track) or the M.S. Program in Biology. Because graduate students are supported by a teaching assistant position, a minimum English score in TOEFL or IELTS is required for international students.
While I am generally looking for people interested in studying species interactions, my research is broad, and we can discuss possible projects that fit your interests. If you want to join the lab as a graduate student, email me ([email protected]). In your email, please tell me about your experience with research, your motivation to go to grad school, and your research interests.
Also, I recommend checking the 'miscellaneous' tab for some advice (from other people) about being a grad student. You can also read this article giving advice on applying to grad school in Ecology and Evolution: https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bes2.1917
